Trawler
This has been an ongoing project to significantly upgrade the
systems on a 36' Prairie trawler.

Completed projects:
- Installation of a color radar that is connected via SeaTalk high speed bus to a chart plotter located in the at lower navigation station. A complete set of Raytheon ST-60 wind, speed, depth and rudder instruments were also interconnected using Seatalk
- Ray215 VHF Radios installed at both upper and lower stations. They are interconnected using NEMA for DSC (Digital Selective Calling) to the autopilot, course computer with gyro. The hydraulic pump/ram is controlled by dual (upper and lower) 650 Control Heads
- The upper station is made with Solid Mahogany with Burl Walnut Dash. It opens and closes with the aid of a custom made electric motor/servo control. The dash was custom designed and manufactured by Richard
- The custom fabricated floor is solid 9/16" teak with white birch inlay, The integrated, matching engine hatches are newly fabricated are are 4.5" thick (with sound insulation) with birch ply on the underside. The white birch inlay was installed to the thousands of the inch. Eight layers of varnish completed the job
- The old fridge was replaced with a new Tundra fridge running on enviromentally friendly R134 refrigerant
- The color radar and color plotter were recently upgraded with MARPA and radar/chart overlay software
- The photo above shows the vacuum bag system used to veneer the burled oak dash panels used in the flybridge dash
